Why your Newborn needs Vitamin K at birth.

It seems like many parents are refusing the vitamin K shot for their newborns. This puts them at risk for bleeding, hemorrhaging, and other problems. In addition, if you have a boy, your Pediatrician may not do a circumcision. Vitamin K is a nutrient that our body needs for blood clotting and to stop bleeding. We get it through our food , but babies are not eating food until 4-6 months. Babies do NOT have enough vitamin K at birth which is why it is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1961, they get the vitamin K injection right after birth. Without Vitamin K your baby can have excess bleeding from a cut, fall, and they can have uncontrolled bleeding into their brain or other organs.
